In January we celebrated our baby girl Willow’s 3rd Birthday!
Me oh my what fun it is to be three. When I asked her what she would like for her party her requests were simple… Balloons, ice cream, cupcakes, jelly and popcorn. Easy Done!
I had this one in the bag.
Whilst her requests were simple choosing a theme seemed a little harder, we’ve done the ice cream party before and the sweet treat themed parties now seem a little over done. It is always a scorcher of a day on her birthday and with a pool in the backyard we knew a pool party was the only solution.
Our girl is certainly full of energy, life and gives us plenty of laughs. Our crazy little coconut… the perfect pool party theme. Filled with bright colours, lots of balloons and splashes of gold, it was the perfect mix. I love big balloons at a party and a balloon arch is a great statement piece. This one took me just over an hour to put together and was pretty simple to link together and hang from the ceiling. I chose different shades of pink, Aqua, lime green, yellow and peach with metallic gold to bring it all together. Willows Cake topper is from Lavender Honey and co and if you didn’t know, that is my other business that I own and run. All handmade Party decorations and completely customized for your theme. You can shop them here
Tip: Pick 4-5 colours and a metallic to keep your theme flowing, try adding a pattern or texture that compliments the theme.
Is one that draws all the attention… full of sweet treats, and plenty of tempting delights the birthday cake always takes centre stage. As an event stylist birthdays are my favourite and being able to celebrate with our girls and make sure they have a day to remember is one that gives me such joy. When I was a kid I always looked forward to party day, putting on my favourite party dress, playing with my friends and eating homemade party food that my mum so wonderfully made herself. These are the moments we live to remember and share with our own children… it’s one that i’ll cherish forever and enjoy sharing with my kids as they get older.
I always like to mirror a desert table and make sure that each side is the same. Although varying in height and texture it’s easy to add beautiful layers of deserts and candy that will make your desert table deliciously appealing. Try adding reflective trays, using large and small glass jars for height and choosing a platform for your cake to stand on.
Tip: Keep it simple! keep the theme flowing by using the same colours and tying all elements together with decorative jars and flowers.

I love a drink station at a party and it’s always something we can easily forget when hosting. Having a range of beverages for your guests to enjoy is always going to keep them content and participating in the party fun!
We chose Pink grapefruit lemonade, Cucumber and mint water and Orange Fizz!
Tip: Keep your drink choices to your theme, inject some colour by adding slices of fruit and fresh herbs like mint and rosemary to flavour water. It’s fun and delicious.
Grazing tables are the new cheese board, and this 2 meter beauty was never left alone the whole party. Filled with layered cheeses, fresh fruit, vegies, breads, crackers, cold cut meats and pastries there was more than enough food for the adults and kids to enjoy!
Tip: Fill in spaces on your table with different crackers, pretzels, bread sticks and vegie crisps. Layer your table first with brown paper to stop any spills or oils leaving any stains. Plus it’s easy to clean up after!
The kids spent alot of time splashing in the pool and enjoying all of the novelty pool floats. When they were tired out from all the fun we had glitter tattoos and bubbles to keep them occupied, plus a water slide just in case. The kids had so much fun we almost forgot about the party games!!! We played “pass the parcel” “musical statues” and our new favourite the “water game” ( Where you have all the kids line up behind each other in two lines and they each get an empty cup, the person at the front of the line has a cup full of water and they need to race to pour the water over their heads into the cup the person behind them is holding…. making their way down the line whichever line has the most water in the last cup wins! So much fun and the kids lovvvedddd it!
It was such a fun day and the kids all enjoyed themselves, I hope i’ve given you some inspiration for your next party and some easier ways to bring it all together.
Here’s to the next party….. Bigger, brighter and filled with all the fun and laughter that memories are made of. Enjoy!
