Hello…. It’s me…
Sorry, I couldn’t help myself, I just had to start my blog with a snippet of Adele! (She’s just so dang amazing)
If you’ve read this far I’m super excited that you’ve decided to come on this journey with me. Just Do it! They say…. so I did!
It’s been a long time coming, and I’ve hesitated and thought about starting this little online space to call my own for awhile. It’s scary and a little bit daunting.
I’m not overly tech savvy (actually not at all) and whilst I love to write, it doesn’t always come across the right way (or the left). Either way I really hope you will enjoy what I post here and I’m Looking forward to seeing this space grow.
I thought the best place to start would be the beginning (dah) or maybe the middle?
How about a little snippet of who I am? First things first….
I’m Elise for those who have been following me on my instagram page here
I have two children Shiloh (5) and Willow (2), I’m married to Daniel who has lots of exciting letters after his name that mean he is a Chiropractor! Whoop! Nope that doesn’t mean I get free massages either. We have been married for 9 years and together since I was 16… Pretty major effort I’d say ( He probably deserves a medal, or an island)
We have just moved into our dream home after a long and stressful build, which i’ll go more into another time.
I am a qualified beauty therapist and make up artist. Which I spent the majority of my twenties pursuing until I found myself stuck in a rut. I just didn’t get the same kick out of it that I used to. I guess I wanted to express my creativity more and learn new skills, however it wasn’t in make up that I felt I could do this. I jumped ship and went on to manage several high end fashion labels, so out of my comfort zone but super exciting. Learning different aspects of visual merchandising got me wanting to learn more and more and it finally got that creative ball rolling.
It wasn’t until after I had Willow and during an early morning feed 2 years ago that I discovered instagram… It was amazing, picture after picture of beautiful homes, products, designs and amazing people I have never heard of or seen before. I spent the wee hours of the morning exploring this wondrous place and stumbled across one of my first insta-follows @clareb8
This beautiful lady was one of the first pages I ever followed without even knowing her I scrolled through photo after photo of her home and life and I knew that we would secretly hit it off! (lucky we did, major stalk alert) If you aren’t following clare you really need to, she is the most down to earth, genuine, relatable, stylin’ ladies I know! You can read her blog Here
It’s fair to say from that point onwards all I wanted to do was move pieces around our home and take photos! Styling was my jam, my thing, my shiz and no body could stop me! (other than our bank balance) I was hooked! Shortly after we sold our first family home and we were on the move to build our new abode and rent close by. This totally killed my buzz, renting sucks, it’s the worst. Anyone who rents will know those rent inspections, cleaning till midnight the night before hassles are the pits! bleugh… lucky we weren’t there long. I lost my styling mojo, I felt I couldn’t be myself and express my inner Shaynna Blaze! ( Selling houses Asutralia made me an expert, NOT!) Instead I hoarded all the items for our new home and soon enough it was time to move in. (phew)
It’s been a hectic 6 months of unpacking and actually moving in. I mean moving everything around until it’s perfect. Yes I’m driving my husband mad but the end result will be worth it! Ha ha ha …
So here we are… right now… I’m writing this sitting at our old dining table that needs replacing, behind me is a navy wall waiting for the right piece of artwork to be hung over it and over in the corner a hole in the wall where our fireplace should be (that is on order and needs to hurry up, just in time for summer hey!)
This is me… it may be a little messy in writing but i can assure you my pantry is organized and my cushions are styled. HA!
Real, everyday, a little bit crazy and a hint of OCD (just take a peek at my cookie jars)
I really hope that you will enjoy reading this and subscribe to my weekly posts.
This is what I love doing and sharing it with you all Is just the icing on the cake!
